About Us

Established in 2017, Nuweplaas is a family owned business run by Elrika Lesch, her husband Lodewyk Jacobus Lesch (the glue that holds it all together) and their three children.

What we do

Casual family gatherings, kids parties, kitchen teas, stork parties, birthday parties, high-teas and long-tables are the order of the day at Nuweplaas. Situated in the scenic countryside of Malmesbury, nearby the Riebeek Valley and Swartland Wine Route, we aim to create the ultimate paradise for the whole family.

How it all began

Nuweplaas was inspired by Elrika's passion for cooking and entertaining, and a lifelong dream of opening her own restaurant. Elrika Lesch was raised in Malmesbury by a happy and loving family. Her mother and late "Ouma", both excellent cooks, always shared a love for cooking and good food.

That inspired Elrika, who went on to gain years of experience in the catering business. She has cooked for various bakeries and kitchens and spent many happy years catering for large functions.

Elrika always held a special space in her heart for the farm workers and their wives, who worked with her at 'Country Kitchen' and 'Die Ou Huis', and always dreamed of creating jobs for them. After years in the catering business her dream turned into a beautiful reality: together with Lodewyk and their daughters Christelle and Nadia, 'Country Kitchen' was re-branded and Nuweplaas was born.
